Patriots Top List for Most Super Bowl Appearances

Source: Statista.com

After beating the Kansas City Chiefs 37:31 the New England Patriots will be competing in the Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams this year. It will be the third year in a row that the team reached the NFL championship game – and it also tops the list for most appearances in the Super Bowl. Including the upcoming game on Feb 3, the Patriots will have played 11 Super Bowl games in total.

The New England team has won five out of the ten championship games already played, according to statistics published by ESPN. The Pittsburgh Steelers had a better games to wins ratio. They competed in only eight games, but won six out of those. This year, the Patriots have the chance to tie with the Steelers for most Super Bowls won.

Yet, the Patriots are not the team with the worst wins to participations ratio. The Denver Broncos competed eight times and won only three of those Super Bowls. The San Francisco 49ers made the most of their appearances in the championship game winning five out of six Super Bowls played. The most unlucky team among the Super Bowl participants are the Minnesota Vikings. They played in the Super Bowl in 1970, 1974, 1975 and 1977 but failed to win any of those competitions.
