The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is America’s largest trade association, representing 1.2 million members, including institutes, societies and councils, involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries. Membership is composed of residential and commercial REALTORS®, who are brokers, salespeople, property managers, appraisers, counselors and others engaged in all aspects of the real estate industry. Members belong to one or more of some 1,400 local associations/boards and 54 state and territory associations of REALTORS®.
Ten years ago NAR developed the e-PRO® certification program to teach members how to effectively use technology to grow their business. As technology changed technology training also changed resulting in the developing of an entirely new e-PRO® program released this year.
The new e-PRO® curriculum includes content on how to use the latest social media technologies, such as Facebook and Twitter, and demonstrates how to create an online presence so vital to reaching today’s hyper-connected consumers. e-PRO® also teaches how to take advantage of rich media and e-office strategies to run a business more efficiently.

REALTORS® who become e-PRO® certified not only prove to consumers that they know how to use the most advanced technology to provide exceptional service but also gain new networking opportunities with other tech-savvy REALTORS®. The connections feature that is part of the Follr product line is one way to facilitate that networking.
“In order to grow Follr it makes sense to leverage the AgencyLogic brand, client-base and foothold in the real estate industry,” stated Follr Co-founder and CEO Stephen Fells adding “Being part of NAR’s e-PRO® curriculum helps those efforts and is obviously something we are very excited about.”
With real-time twitter and RSS feeds, video, professional bio, connections and detailed contact information the Web-based utility has seen explosive growth since the formation of the company in July. Follr’s profile Websites organize online information into one, memorable Website address. Sometimes referred to as a social business card, Follr products service individuals and corporations in part by leveraging employees or members to promote and protect a brand.
REALTORS® can leverage additional industry specific functionality by detailing homes they are marketing, specifically AgencyLogic single property Websites, on their Follr Website. Westchester based Broker-Owner Phil Faranda (Vice President of the Empire Access MLS and regular media contributor) uses Follr and commented:
“The platform is a comprehensive stop on the information highway for your entire social media directory, your contact information, web page, and even a brief bio. [It's] the true one-stop shop for those of us who either suffer from button overload or like a cleaner footer.”
The broker’s profile can be seen at: follr.me/jphilip
Follr also offers real estate industry specific URL’s as an alternative to the standard follr.me or follr.us options with the rlty.me (pronounced ‘realty dot me’) and rlty.us domains. An example can be seen at rlty.me/HeidiGolff.
“While we have seen great adoption of Follr within the real estate industry we are seeing most growth in non-real estate sectors. As we continue developing more features we expect that trend to continue.” said Mark Wayman, Follr Co-Founder and President.
National speaker Bill Lublin, CEO of the Social Media Marketing Institute and Century 21 Advantage Gold (which has been recognized by both Real Trends & Rismedia as one of the largest real estate firms in the U.S.) commented:
“In the web 2.0 world business people need to have a way to increase their SMO (Social Media Optimization) by helping their friends, family, followers, and customers to connect with them in the simplest possible manner. The day when property information directed people to real estate agents is passing as aggregators and large national Websites compete with regional companies for limited consumer eyes. Now real estate professionals need to connect with people in a variety of social media outposts, and follr.com plays an important role in this world by providing a graphically pleasing yet simple way to connect with someone on any number of channels. In a world where your first introduction to a consumer is online, follr.com provides a modern iteration of the business card in a flexible and technologically forward thinking manner.”Bill has been recognized for his insights in the use of Social Media and technology for business, being named by Inman News as one of “Real Estate’s 50 Most Influential Online”, Roost’s “50 RE People to follow on Twitter”, and other social media lists.
This latest news in one of several announcements the company will be making during the remainder of 2011.
